Scan
Assess over the possibilities to apply nature-inspired solutions in a certain engineering operation (sediment management at a port, a land reclamation project including dredging and deposition, or the operation of a tailings mine). The results of this study will consist of an evaluation of every relevant application in the selected context, indicating possible advantages and disadvantages, cost aspects and implications in the logistics and operations.

Design
Design of a specific solution. Once a particular solution has been identified we can provide design parameters based on a number of simple laboratory experiments and modeling exercises. The latter will also enable us to refine the estimation of performance within a certain degree of confidence. Depending on the type of application and the required degree of confidence, in-situ intermediate testing might be considered for the final design and performance estimation.

Supply
Supply of the natural solution. Sourcing the necessary amount of worms or plants to treat thousands of cubic meters can post a challenge. We are talking of hundreds of kilograms of worms and of hundreds to thousands plants. In some cases, as in the worms, the market can’t provide, and in any case the logistics of living organisms are delicate and challenging. We solve this issue by addressing your needs on site and consistently with the local biodiversity.

Execution
Once it is time to get things done, we help you translating your design into project plan. Our nature-inspired technologies make use of local flora and fauna to achieve their engineering goals. These can potentially be beyond the common practice of contractors. We can provide a translation of the design parameters into aspects to be considered for the actual implementation of one technology, so that for example this are incorporated into tendering documentation and are therefore adopted by the final executor of the engineering intervention. Finally, we will also support you with monitoring the performance of the solution, ultimately enabling adaptive management.
